Domain names can be “locked”, which prevents the domain name from being transferred to another registrar. For security purposes, ReachONE recommends locking your domain name, and provides this feature at no additional cost. Domain names do need to be unlocked for a transfer to take place, regardless of who the “winning registrar” (the registrar that the domain name will be transferred to) or the “losing registrar” (the registrar that the domain name will be transferred away from) is. If your domain name is registered through ReachONE, these steps will allow you to lock or unlock your domain name:
- Click ‘ACCOUNT LOGIN’ on ReachONE.com
- Enter your username and password in the ‘Manage Your Account’ and click ‘Login’.
- Click on the ‘Services’ menu at the top of the page.
- Click on the ‘+’ button to expand your Domain Name Registration service.
- Click on ‘List All Registered Domain Names’.
- Click on the domain name in question.
- Click on ‘Lock’ or ‘Unlock’ at the top of the page.
Note that here you can also obtain the Domain Auth Code for your domain. This will be needed if you are transferring your domain name to another registrar.
