How to configure WiFi on an Android device

Note: The following instructions were created from a Motorola RAZR HD phone running Android Jelly Bean (version 4.1.2). Due to the fragmented nature of the Android operating system on mobile and tablet devices, the instructions below may not perfectly represent the setup process on your Android device, but should be similar.

  1. Starting from the HOME SCREEN, swipe down from the top to bring up the NOTIFICATIONS AREA.
  2. Select the gear icon to access the SETTINGS MENU.
  3. Under the WIRELESS & NETWORKS section, select WI-FI to bring up the WI-FI menu.
  4. Turn Wi-Fi on (if not already) by selecting ON/OFF in the top right corner. This will enable your Android device to detect wireless networks that are in range.
  5. Select the name of the network you want to connect to.
  6. Enter the network password in the PASSWORD field.
  7. Select CONNECT.

How to configure email on an Android device

  1. Starting from the HOME SCREEN, swipe down from the top to bring up the NOTIFICATIONS AREA.
  2. Select the gear icon to access the SETTINGS MENU.
  3. Scroll down until you see the ACCOUNTS section.
  4. Select ADD ACCOUNT to bring up the ADD AN ACCOUNT screen.
  5. Select EMAIL to bring up the SYNCHRONIZE ACCOUNTS screen.
  6. Scroll to the bottom and select OTHER to bring up the first ACCOUNT SETUP screen.
  7. On the first ACCOUNT SETUP screen, configure/verify the following:
    1. Enter your email address in the EMAIL ADDRESS field.
    2. Enter your password in the PASSWORD field.
    3. Optionally, check the SEND EMAIL FROM THIS ACCOUNT BY DEFAULT checkbox.
  8. Select NEXT to bring up the second ACCOUNT SETUP screen.
  9. On the second ACCOUNT SETUP screen, configure/verify the following:
    1. Choose either POP3 or IMAP. For help, see the support article ‘Should I use IMAP or POP?’
  10. On the third ACCOUNT SETUP screen, configure/verify the following:
    1. The USERNAME field contains the email address you previously entered.
    2. The PASSWORD field contains a number of dots (which represent the password you previously entered).
    3. Enter “mail.reachone.com” in the SERVER field.
    4. The PORT field is set to “110” (for POP3) or “143” (for IMAP).
    5. The SECURITY TYPE field is set to “None.”
    6. The AUTHENTICATION METHOD field is set to “Auto.”
    7. Set the DELETE EMAIL FROM SERVER field to “When I delete from Inbox.”
  11. Select NEXT to bring up the fourth ACCOUNT SETUP screen.
  12. On the fourth ACCOUNT SETUP screen, configure/verify the following:
    1. The SMTP SERVER field is set to “mail.reachone.com.”
    2. The PORT field is set to “587.”
    3. The SECURITY TYPE field is set to “None.”
    4. The REQUIRE SIGN-IN checkbox is checked.
    5. The AUTHENTICATION METHOD field is set to “Auto.”
    6. The USERNAME field contains the email address you previously entered.
    7. The PASSWORD field contains a number of dots (which represent the password you previously entered).
  13. Select NEXT to bring up the fifth ACCOUNT SETUP screen.
  14. On the fifth ACCOUNT SETUP screen, configure/verify the following:
    1. The INBOX CHECKING FREQUENCY field is set to “Every 15 minutes.”
    2. Optionally, check the SEND EMAIL FROM HIS ACCOUNT BY DEFAULT checkbox.
    3. The NOTIFY ME WHEN THIS EMAIL ARRIVES checkbox is checked.
    4. The SYNC EMAIL FROM THIS ACCOUNT checkbox is checked.
    5. Optionally, check the SYNC OVER WI-FI ONLY checkbox.
  15. Select DONE to bring up the sixth ACCOUNT SETUP screen.
    1. On the sixth ACCOUNT SETUP screen, configure/verify the following:
      1. Optionally, enter an account name into the GIVE THIS ACCOUNT A NAME field.
      2. Enter a name (to be displayed on outgoing messages) in the YOUR NAME field.
  16. Select NEXT to finish the setup and begin syncing emails.
